Rice

With more than three billion people relying on rice as their staple food, rice is one of the most important foods in the world. Containing some nutrients, such as a small amount of protein, white rice is loaded with folate and manganese, and is also a good course of thiamin, niacin, iron and selenium. Brown rice has all of these nutrients, plus lots of fiber. 1

Tip:
Storing Leftover Rice: The starch in rice makes it a perfect host for bacterial growth if not stored properly! Make sure you refrigerate any uneaten leftovers as soon as possible to have leftovers available for 4 – 6 days OR freeze your leftovers to keep for up to 6 months! 1
